Team building by deception
Engineers are not the first people you’d think of who would enjoy team building exercises; far from it in fact. Yet, digging through the artifice, there are some valuable lessons to be learned. In this talk, Christopher discusses his observations of an alternative, albeit accidental, form of team building – through the use of hidden identity card games.
An American transplant to the UK, Christopher is an Engineering Team Lead at DataSift, overseeing the customer-facing functionality of the world’s leading processor of human data. Prior to this, he was a Senior Engineer at Time Out Digital, helping to design and deliver their global platform as well as looking after the day to day running of the Time Out London and Paris websites. In his spare time, he is an established member of the PHP community, co-founded and organizes PHP Berkshire; alongside this, he is Marketing Manager for Reading’s Progress Theatre, with whom he also acts regularly.
